Final Count Down

So I’ve got exactly two weeks left until the knot is officially tied and you can’t even begin to imagine what kind of wedding planning hell I’ve been stuck in. I leave on Monday for Taipei and to be completely honest, I really don’t know how much time I’ll have to keep you guys posted. This is just an apology post… can’t chat - got bridesmaid’s veil accessories to make and packing to do! So to make up for my lack of posts… I”ll give you a sneak peek of my wedding engagement photos (>_<)v

Oh. My. Miu Miu.

I’m seriously obsessed with everything surrounding Miu Miu’s most recent collection. Having epileptic seizures over the onslaught of crystals, nude mesh and whimsically divine patterns. This fascination might be more problematic than I thought. Ugh.

My heart just broke into a million little pieces knowing how out of reach I am from reality.

DEPARTURES

Anyone who knows me, knows my non-existent standards to classify what is and what isn’t a good movie. In most cases -and by most I mean about 97% of the time - it’s a good movie… even if those around me beg to differ (Brandon and attest to this). I CAN however, tell an EXCELLENT movie from an average one. That said, Departures (aka Okuribito - click on link to read synopsis from official site) is now sitting on the top of my movie pedestal for foreign films - I don’t think I’ve laughed or cried that hard throughout an entire film since watching Life is Beautiful (another MUST SEE if you haven’t already). The movie definitely sparked a new found appreciation for the art of “encoffination” - I’m actually going to look into it more and see if it’s a common practice among the oriental populations here, it’s something so respectfully tender it almost hurts. I’ve put the trailer below but please keep in mind that it really doesn’t do the movie any justice - if you guys are Netflix members, you can stream it onto your Xbox360, PS3 or your computer by putting the movie onto your “Watch Instantly” list. Do it. Now.

Mon Dior!

I’ve obviously played the devil’s advocate when it comes to shopping at Nordstrom’s Rack - the deals are practically steals and the return policy has yet to be beat! My latest purchase are these fire breathing stems by Christian Dior, which originally retailed for a little over $500.00. Sit down ladies, this is serious… I got these for $189! I’m telling you, if you haven’t already, throw on your sweats and hit the Rack, not only is it a treasure chest full of surprises, you get a great work out digging, stripping, pulling, tugging, hanging and jumping for goods!

Chain Reaction

My buddy Sarah’s got a wicked sense of street style; reminding me of Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s but with her own tom-boyish accents and Canton flair. For shits ‘n giggles, she came by after class one day with her twin sister Tiff and we played with chains, ropes and studs I had laying around the apartment.

We decided layer some chains on one side of her blank… Tiff did a brilliant job sewing them in, I had used safety pins to keep them in place (no time to sew). This literally took 15 minutes, it’s a great way to shake up an old sweater you’ve got lying around… or even a new one.
